XJTAG sponsors National Electronics Week

  • XJTAG agrees three-year sponsorship deal to support the UK’s annual electronics industry showcase – starting with the inaugural event at London’s Earls Court, from 17-19 June 2008
  • XJTAG urges the whole industry – from universities to PLCs – to support National Electronics Week and create a truly international exhibition in the UK

CAMBRIDGE, England, March 4, 2008 – XJTAG has agreed a three-year deal to sponsor National Electronics Week, the UK’s premier electronics industry exhibition, which holds its inaugural event at London’s Earls Court, from 17-19 June 2008.

Electronics Week (NEW) was conceived to provide an event that showcases every aspect of today’s electronics market including the latest innovations in electronic design, silicon, hardware systems, software design, components, test tools, assembly equipment, production systems, contract manufacturing services and distribution.

Simon Payne, CEO of XJTAG, said, “The UK electronics industry is the fifth largest in the world yet we lack a single international event in the UK at which to showcase our considerable talents. It would be great for our global competitiveness to have a dedicated event that attracted tens of thousands of visitors to our shores and provided a dynamic environment for networking and for cross-fertilisation of ideas across different disciplines which so often fuels true innovation.”

“XJTAG decided to support the National Electronics Week as the organisers are committed to creating a dynamic event with an international dimension. Here, at last, is an opportunity for the leading UK-based companies and universities to highlight their world-class innovative talents in research and development at a UK event,” added Simon Payne.

“We urge everyone in the UK electronics sector, from the leading lights to the undiscovered gems, not to miss the opportunity to exhibit their products and show their support for this industry. With enough backing – particularly from the PLCs and universities, we can create an event that we can all be proud of and that unites the industry.”

Claire Jeffreys, event director for National Electronics Week, said: “We are delighted that XJTAG is supporting the show by agreeing to be our first silver sponsor and for making a three-year commitment to the event. Simon Payne at XJTAG shares our vision for this exhibition and has been a great ambassador and advocate for what we are trying to achieve. He has also helped us to forge links with many different companies and organisations as we seek to establish NEW as the UK’s mainstream electronics show.”

“There is a real buzz about the show and we have already succeeded in attracting exhibitors from across many different disciplines, including organisations such as AFDEC, Fuji, the IPC, National Instruments, Pace Europe, Panasonic and Samsung,” added Claire Jeffreys. “We also have exhibitors from the consumer electronics industry, the medical market, microprocessor suppliers, contract manufacturers, clean room specialists, bare board manufacturers, product design companies, and production equipment firms.”

“We also hope that XJTAG’s support will lead to further sponsors coming forward and using the event to promote their brand to a large national and international audience as this will enable us to introduce other innovative ideas that will further enhance the profile of National Electronics Week,” added Rob Saunders, operations director for National Electronics Week.
